I'm not complaining about the weather. It's manageable.

99 and frozen
We have had a less than usual spring this year. Snow continued to fall into May and now we're hitting 99 degrees today. Fishing opener was just this past weekend and most lakes are still largely covered in ice. Lake Milacs experienced high winds that pushed large ice chunks 100s of yards onto shore and even damaging homes.

Cheese!
If Adelynn doesn't want herpicture taken all you need to do is snap a picture of her, flip the phone to show herherself and then say "cheese" and she'll say cheese back with a smile. Seth was running around somewhere. It would have been a good picture with him there too. Oh well, next time. I love Sam's smile. She's such a beautiful little girl, even with short hair.
Cousin Fun
A few times per year we get Chris and his boys together with our family. With my parents in town we decided to schedule a day at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. Typically it's a Christmas gathering where the kids can't really play or eating at a restaurant. Not this time! The four big kids ran from ride to ride and got along great. Nick and Reece started off riding together and then soon Nick and Sam started riding together. It wasn't very busy which was perfect! We'll definitely be back as a whole family again, this time with the Stafford's with too.

Doodles
I enjoy looking through Seth and Sam's school folders to see all of what they are learning at school. They are always very good at telling me about field trips and fun events that are going on at school, but not so great at cleaning out their folders and backpacks to make room for the next week of papers.
Once I emptied out Sam's folder I noticed a lot of doodling. Mackenzie Farrington's name is all over as we'll as one sentence that clearly stands out. "I love you, Owen". Yes, my seven year old daughter has her first crush. I've heard her friends whisper about it at Girl Scouts. Just the other weekend we offered to have Owen, Kiera, and Josh sleep over. We already have three kids, what difference would three more make? Well, Kiera wasn't ready to sleep over at a non-family members house so she had Sam sleep over at her house. When Kiera's mom came by to swap out kids I shared the story with her about Sam's crush on Owen.
I guess she already knew. Sam had apparently drawn a picture for Owen calling out their wedding, house and their baby. Shelly wasn't sure what to do. Owen was thrown back a bit but they still play together.
After all of that I'm kinda glad Sam went to Kiera's house for the sleepover and that Owen came to ours.

May Day Bliss
Last week we were lucky to have weather in the 70s and 80s. Today, the 30s, and better yet, snow. We got around 9 inches while friends just outside of town measure 14-16 inches.
I noticed during one of my many midnight bathroom trips that we were without power. Not that big of a deal while sleeping. I had such a hard time crawling out of my nice warm bed to a 60 degree house. School was cancelled which now might make June 3rd our last day of school rather than May 31st. As we wee getting ready to head to my friend Jenna's house for warmth and to put Adelynn down for a nap, the power kicked on after six hours. Phew!

He's watching!
Grandma and Grandpa Loken pulled out of The Great Outdoors and are heading to Randolph. There is a neat app called Glympse that allows you to send a link to whomever you want showing where you are on your travels and how fast you're going.
Seth is watching them drive out of TGO. "They're turning now!", "Must be at a stop light." "Grandpa is only going 15 mph" and so on. He is so excited for them to get here and enjoy the snow that never seems to stop.
